This annual event coincides with the Heritage Day long weekend in August.  Events vary from year to year, but the basic idea is to provide visitors with a rare opportunity to get a look inside our historical sites and buildings, some of which are not normally open to the public.

In past years, events have included guided walks through various facilities, self-guided walks and drives through historic neighborhoods, a garden tour, picnics, interactive displays and demonstrations, photo exhibits, and expert guest speakers on heritage subjects.  Have a look at the 2010 Doors Open and Heritage Festival brochure.  In addition, all of the heritage attractions in the Pass are open.
